  • GALE promotes storytelling in ILGA organizations
    November 04, 2008 - GALE organized two workshops in which they introduced to ILGA the idea that different ways of storytelling can be used as tools for education in the strategy of LGBT organizations.
  • GALE starts quick scan in Latin America and the Caribbean
    May 08, 2008 - From 20 till 22 March 2008, GALE organized a small meeting in Lima to discuss the preparation of the Latin American and Caribbean activities of GALE. Before the meeting, a quick scan of educational interventions and interest in GALE had already started. A strategy meeting is planned in Mexico City, 29-31 July.
  • GALE starts two projects in Asia
    February 08, 2008 - The Global Alliance for LGBT Education (GALE) starts this year with two projects in Asia: a quick scan and a storytelling project.
  • ILGA and GALE pledge collaboration
    December 21, 2007 - In a meeting on December 21, the ILGA world staff and GALE director Peter Dankmeijer pledged to collaborate on several issues in 2008. Agreements were made on information exchange, the ILGA conference, on a storytelling campaign and on taking lesbian issues into account.
  • GALE Asia proposes to embark on three projects
    December 16, 2007 - The first GALE strategy meeting in Asia concluded with ideas and general plans for 3 projects: a quick scan, mainstreaming LGBT issues in NGO's and storytelling.
  • GALE gets support in Brazil
    December 16, 2007 - During a three day visit to Brasilia, GALE got support from several ministries, politicians, UNAIDS and UNESCO. The visit was successful beyond expectation. The ministries of education and health assured they were very happy with the initiatives of GALE, which link into their plans to implement LGBT issues in the health curriculum of all secondary schools. Politicians pledged their support through their parliamentary function. The ministry of justice experiments with a mandatory online course for police officers about human rights and LGBT issues and is interested in international exchange on training uniformed forces and is willing to share the expertise from the online course globally.   • GALE website launched at meeting Advisory Board
    October 09, 2007 - The website of GALE was launched on October 8, during the meeting of the Advisory Board in Amsterdam. In this meeting the Advisory Board evaluated the developments in the past year and made recommendations for the next two years. The recommendations will be used in the working plan of GALE for 2008-2009.
