ECER Main Conference
The ECER is the annual conference held by the European Educational Research Association (EERA). It welcomes more than 1,500 scholars each year, representing views and research traditions from all parts of Europe and also attracting researchers from other parts of the world.
Pre-Conference for Postgraduate Students and New Researchers
The Emerging Researchers - Network within EERA organizes the annual Pre-Conference, which is free of charge. Each year the Pre-Conference attracts about 150 participants from allparts of Europe. In addition to the presentations of conference delegates, it will offer special events for New Researchers, such as a Best Paper Award and ECER conference Scholarships for PhD students from Eastern European countries and it will assist new researchers to get in touch with EERA networks. The pre-conference 2010 will include a Methodology Panel and three key-note lectures on methodological approaches and on the question "What do examiners look for when reading a thesis?"
Funded Accommodation during Pre-Conference
EERA has agreed to support accommodation costs for presenters at the pre-conference to enable all early career researchers to attend. Therefore, depending upon numbers, we have arranged for a number of hostel rooms to be available at very low cost (hopefully free) for the night from 23 - 24 August.
After the reviewing process the EERA office will let you know how to book these rooms. We hope to offer these rooms free of charge but this will depend upon some people being willing to share double rooms. EERA will also offer ECER Scholarships for Postgraduate Students from Eastern European Countries and Low GDP Countries. Applications need to include a CV, the proposal number of the ECER Pre-conference submission and a small description of your research, a motivational letter and a letter from your supervisor.
More information will soon be online at
Conference Venue and Accomodation
The conference will take place at the University of Helsinki City Centre Campus (University main building, Fabianinkatu 33). Please note that the conference is held during the Helsinki Festival: this will have an effect on the availability of hotel rooms. The earlier you book a room, the better. The local organising committee provides an online booking form for hotels and will be glad to help you with your reservation.
EERA was founded in 1994 to promote educational research in Europe through fostering cooperation between European associations and institutes of educational research, and international government organisations. It is organized as an umbrella organization and only allows institutional membership.
Please note, scholars who have joined one of the EERA member associations are entitled to reduced conference fees.
